Transforming the Food Industry for a Sustainable Future
With three decades at the intersection of food, innovation, and sustainability, I’ve dedicated my career to building a better, more sustainable food system. Throughout my journey, I’ve worked alongside chefs, sommeliers, bartenders, and artisans, tackling some of the most pressing challenges facing the industry today, including food waste, sustainability, fair wages, and mental health.
As the former CEO and Editor-in-Chief of StarChefs, I led editorial, design, marketing, and events teams, pioneering groundbreaking programs and partnerships. We spotlighted the next generation of culinary talent through the Rising Stars awards and fostered critical dialogue on topics like sustainable practices and food waste reduction. In 2008, I spearheaded the International Chefs Congress, where we explored the role of chefs in fostering a more sustainable food system— a forward-thinking dialogue ahead of its time. Nearly a decade later, at our What Is Progress? symposium, we challenged the industry to implement no-waste programs, continuing our push for meaningful change.
This passion for sustainability and food justice continues to drive my work today. I am convinced that addressing food waste is key to reversing climate change. My career spans a wide range of roles, from managing businesses of all sizes to leading social enterprises and corporate initiatives. As Consulting Chief Commercial Officer at Upcycled Foods, I’ve been at the forefront of the company’s growth, helping transform food waste into valuable resources, building strategic partnerships, and driving large-scale sustainability efforts. From overseeing operations at The Body Shop to advising global brands at StarChefs like Breville, Vitamix, and Niman Ranch, I’ve developed a deep expertise in creating innovative, scalable strategies that tackle complex challenges and foster sustainable growth.
Now, I am channeling all of this experience into my consulting practice, helping businesses, food innovators, and social enterprises navigate sustainability, tackle food waste, and build successful, purpose-driven brands.
